January 18th, 2022, Zagreb – The Rimac Group is now fully operational, from January 1st, 2022, as an umbrella company that incorporates Bugatti Rimac (active from November 2021) and the new standalone Rimac Technology business.

The Rimac Group is the majority shareholder in Bugatti Rimac with a 55% stake and Porsche owning the remaining 45%. Rimac Technology – the sister company to the previously known Rimac Automobili – is set to become a completely independent company, 100% owned by Rimac Group. It will continue and expand its activities in the engineering, development, production, and supply of high-performance battery systems, electric drive units, electronic systems, and user interface components that Rimac is known for, having established a reputation as a leading provider of advanced performance electrification technologies.

Today, Rimac Technology works with many major automotive manufacturers across Europe, using its engineering expertise in developing the Nevera from the ground up to offer a range of products that takes their customers through the entire product creation process – from concept to large-scale production. Rimac Technology is publicly known to have worked with many global OEMs including Porsche, Hyundai, Kia, Automobili Pininfarina, Koenigsegg, Aston Martin, while there are many additional projects which are still unknown to the public. Having delivered components for several niche volume projects in the past years, Rimac Technology is ramping up its production capacity and will be manufacturing tens of thousands high-performance systems per year by 2024 and further ramping up to volumes of hundreds of thousands with products ranging from small hybrid battery systems to full rolling chassis.

Rimac Technology is free from any oversight by any other manufacturer, including investors into the Rimac Group business. It’s just as important for Rimac Technology clients that their projects are kept confidential, as that it is delivered with the required cost, performance and on time.

As CEO of Rimac Group, Mate Rimac will run both Bugatti Rimac and Rimac Technology. Bugatti and Rimac Automobili both continue as separate respective brands, both operating as part of Bugatti Rimac with shared R&D and other core functions while retaining existing production facilities and distribution channels. Bugatti Rimac represents the company that will develop the future of both Bugatti and Rimac vehicles, by joining resources and expertise in research and development, production, and other areas.

Rimac Technology today is a 1.000-people company based on the outskirts of Zagreb, Croatia. From 2023, The Rimac Group, including Rimac Technology, will be headquartered at a new 200,000 m2 Rimac Campus on the outskirts of Zagreb in Croatia. Large enough to accommodate over 2,500 people, the Campus incorporates every aspect of The Rimac Group business, including production of the Nevera next-generation all-electric hypercar and high-volume production of components for other OEMs.

“If we go back to the very beginning of the Rimac Automobili business in 2009, the dream for me was to build my own electric hypercar. With Nevera we believe we’ve achieved that dream, creating a car that is not only the fastest accelerating in the world, but also comfortable, usable and brimming with our advanced technology. But Nevera isn’t just a standalone project, it’s a showcase of what Rimac Technology can do free from the costs or volume restraints of a large-scale manufacturer. We believe once you’ve pushed the technology as far as it can go, makes it a lot easier to scale it up to higher volume and lower cost. The e-Axles, Torque Vectoring, battery systems, connectivity, AI, and countless other electrical systems on Nevera are all our own creations, and each of them can be scaled to suit applications you might find on a range of higher volume performance vehicles.

Separating the technology business into its own entity is a natural step as the focus of the two markets, hypercars and components, are completely different. For example – the products of Rimac Technology, while being on the cutting edge of performance, also need to be extremely cost competitive and producible at huge scales, while those issues are secondary for the hypercar business. This new structure will enable each company of the Rimac Group to flourish to their full potential, while still sharing the synergies between them – for example using our own hypercars as testbeds for new technology before we offer it to other OEMs.”

Mate Rimac, CEO of The Rimac Group

As customer deliveries of Rimac’s new all-electric hypercar, Nevera, power the company into 2022, D’Ieteren joins Rimac Automobili’s family of global dealer partners with plans for a new Rimac-branded showroom based in Brussels, Belgium. D’Ieteren is a hugely experienced luxury car retailer and the sole distributor of Porsche vehicles in Belgium and Bugatti vehicles in Belgium and in Luxemburg.

The new partnership between Rimac and D’Ieteren will provide customers with the complete Rimac experience in customizing, ordering and handing over of Neveras and future Rimac hypercars. D’Ieteren’s Brussels dealer agreement will also provide full aftersales support for Rimac owners, utilizing Rimac’s own diagnostic tools and in-house-developed fully digitized aftersales platform.

The Nevera was introduced to Belgian media and potential customers this week at an exclusive event held by D’Ieteren. A Nevera will also remain on display at Autoworld – one of the country’s largest automotive museums – until January 23rd for the public to witness the car in the carbon.

D’Ieteren – which has an automotive history reaching back to the late 19th Century will soon begin construction of the very first Rimac-branded showroom in Europe this year.

D’Ieteren becomes the 23rd global retail partner for Rimac Automobili, adding to the brand’s expansive global footprint across Europe, America, the Middle East and Asia. Each has been hand-picked to deliver a world-class sales and ownership experience for customers, including intensive training for dealers’ technicians.

Krešimir Ćorić, Head of Sales at Rimac Automobili, said: “The Nevera delivers an experience like no other from behind the wheel, and extending this experience from the first point of contact with our customers is vital in establishing long-lasting and close relationships with our valued clientele. D’Ieteren Automotive is the perfect European partner for our brand with extensive knowledge and connections in the European hypercar world that will help Rimac build an even stronger presence in the region.”

David Favest, General Manager Bentley, Lamborghini, Bugatti and Rimac at D’Ieteren said “The first contacts between the D’Ieteren’s Luxury Division and Rimac Automobili date back to July 2021. We were already following and convinced by the dynamism and passion of Mate Rimac. Since then, part of the Rimac Group has evolved and resulted in the creation of Bugatti Rimac, including a role played by Porsche AG as a strategic partner. In short, it is a very robust structure, both financially and in terms of engineering. D’Ieteren is very honoured to become one of the selected partners in Europe to distribute the brand Rimac and the astonishing Nevera, perfectly in line with D’Ieteren’s vision of the Future of Electric Cars!”

Designed, engineered and built in-house at Rimac Automobili, the Nevera is limited to just 150 units. Made possible by its 120kWh, 6960-cell battery producing 1914hp and 2360Nm of torque, Nevera achieves a top speed of 258 mph (412 km/h), a 0-62mph (100km/h) time of 1.85 seconds, and a 0-100 mph (161 km/h) time of 4.3 seconds. It has been independently verified as the fastest accelerating production car in the world.

Nevera’s name proudly carries its Croatian heritage. A nevera is a mighty Croatian storm, known for its speed, ferocity and energy – a fitting name therefore for both the Nevera’s character and ability. Able to transform in a split second from a supple grand tourer to an all-out force of nature, Nevera is charged by lightning, much like its namesake.

About D’Ieteren

Since its foundation in 1805 in Brussels (Belgium), D’Ieteren has been the name of a family of entrepreneurs that has grown over more than two centuries into what is called today the D’Ieteren Group.

The mission of the Group is to build a family of businesses that reinvent the industries in which they operate in search of excellence and meaningful impact.

Why is the word ‘family’ so important to us? Because it naturally blends all the qualities we believe are necessary to run a thoughtful, meaningful company for the long term.

We are passionate about the companies we invest in and we embark with them on a journey towards long-term value creation for all our stakeholders.

Rimac Automobili’s first production model and the world’s first electric hypercar – the Concept_One – is a part of a new hypercar exhibit at the world-famous Petersen Automotive Museum in California. Joined by game-changing icons like the Bugatti Veyron and Koenigsegg Agera RS, it’s an exploration of the recent phenomenon of cars with such other-worldly performance that they go beyond the realm of the supercar, and into the hyper.

The new ‘Hypercars: The Allure of the Extreme’ exhibit opened on December 4th, designed to showcase what hypercars stand for and why they continue to captivate the global automotive community. It’s just one part of the Museum, which is described as “the world’s greatest automotive museum”, housing one of the largest collections ever assembled, from all-time classics to modern-day racing cars and cutting-edge electric vehicles of the future. The Concept_One on display is in fact the very first production example ever produced, owned by Mr. Paul Runge, based in the US who wished to give the public a chance to see the hypercar in the metal.

Images by HRE Wheels

The Concept_One was Mate Rimac’s first car built from the ground up and was designed to showcase the potential of electric technology in the world of automotive performance. Born out of Rimac’s dedication to pushing the boundaries of technology and electric powertrains, the Concept_One was not only intended to transform the performance EV platform but to prove that an electric powertrain can make a car faster, but also more exciting, too.

Revealed to the world in production form in 2016, the Concept_One was based upon entirely new powertrain systems and an original platform developed in-house by Rimac. Powered by four magnetic electric motors – one for each wheel – with a total output of 900 kW/1224hp and 1600Nm of torque from 8450 battery cells, the Concept_One was soon recognized as one of the fastest road cars, at the time beating many hypercars off-the-line. It’s capable of accelerating from standstill to 100 km/h (62mph) in just 2.5 seconds, to 200 km/h (124mph) in 6, and to 300 km/h (186mph) in 14 seconds.

The Concept_One also helped to lay the foundations for Rimac Automobili’s latest all-electric hypercar, the Nevera. Although not a single component was carried over from Concept_One, the experience helped the Rimac Automobili team to create evolutions of some of Concept_One’s technologies, including Rimac All-Wheel Torque Vectoring, and a quad-motor powertrain fed by a 120kWh battery. Rimac’s next-generation, Nevera, is the most technologically advanced hypercar in the world and the fastest accelerating production car, launched by its 1,914hp motors to 300km/h (186mph) in 9.3 seconds – nearly a full five seconds faster than Concept_One.

With the Concept_One, we didn’t want to simply create an electric version of existing hypercars. We wanted to create the hypercar of the 21st century. To have it stand wheel-to-wheel with other iconic hypercars in one of the most prestigious automotive museums in the world is a real honour for us. And, with only eight built, this exhibit will provide visitors with a rare glimpse of the car that so much of our knowledge and technology is built upon. The Concept_One is an absolutely crucial part of Rimac Automobili history and – while we’ve come so far since – we’ll always look back at Concept_One proud of the electric revolution we helped to kickstart.

In another milestone moment, EV hypercar manufacturer and electric technology specialist, Rimac Group, has broken ground several months ago in Zagreb, Croatia, and construction of the company’s new €200M state-of-the-art global HQ is now in progress. The scale and ambition of the new Rimac Campus are vast, making it one of the largest combined R&D and production facilities in Europe, not just within the automotive industry.

Serving as the company’s international R&D and production base, the new cutting-edge complex will enable the company to ramp up from prototype and smaller volume projects to high-volume production of its high-performance electric drivetrain and battery systems for many global car companies. At the same time, the Campus will serve as the production base for all future Rimac models and their key components, including the Rimac Nevera. Across a built area of 100,000m2 and a wider 200,000m2 site, high-tech innovation remains at the very core of operations.

Featuring an on-site test track, museum, design, engineering, production and testing facilities, the striking buildings and greenery have been carefully harmonized by famous Croatian architectural practice 3LHD. The site will also showcase the brand’s philosophy and attention to detail, with a lengthy wishlist to future-proof its new home after its scheduled completion in 2023.

Speaking about the project that was the part of his vision 10 years ago, founder and CEO, Mate Rimac, said, “Ever since I founded the company, building the best possible working environment was key to me. It is more natural to create great products when one is in the right surroundings. With the Campus we want to do exactly that – create the best environment for working and creativity, but not only for our employees. This is a place where customers, students and the general public are welcome and invited to mingle with our employees. We also take great care to integrate the facility into nature and its surroundings and to be carbon neutral.

“Croatia will always be our home and to begin laying the foundations of our new long-term base is a huge milestone as we build something that allows us to best reflect our brand, ambitions and be a springboard for growth over the next decade and beyond. Strengthening our position as a hypercar maker, as well as a leading Tier 1 supplier of electric performance technology to the world’s largest automotive manufacturers, we can’t wait to show off the final creation and move in our long-term home.”

Given the company’s rapid rate of growth, the site has also been penned in such a way that it can be expanded over time, while still blending in seamlessly with its natural surroundings. In the long term, the new site will accommodate over 2,500 employees and substantial production facilities – well over double the companies’ current headcount.

Naturally, in keeping with the brand’s focus on striking design, innovation and sustainability, the new complex will contain many clever and unique features. Among them are an urban ‘swamp’ and meadows, plus a rooftop garden, a command center, VR-rooms and several top-secret project rooms. A high-end customisation showroom, museum, plus bar and retail space will also feature on the new campus.

Designed to provide an ideal working environment for its internationally diverse workforce, Mate Rimac has ensured the company’s new home embodies not just the brand’s character, but also that of its people. Therefore, spaces throughout have been refined to be friendly, open and warm, with more than a hint of excitement and intrigue. At the same time, befitting the company’s leading-edge technology status, it will be contemporary, light-filled and inspired by its natural surroundings.

One of Rimac’s values is focused on employee wellbeing and learning. As a result, a games room, gym and training centre, restaurant and even a kindergarten and farm animals have been incorporated into the plans. As have an auditorium, conference hall and education rooms.

Since its unveiling in June, Rimac’s all-electric hypercar, the Nevera, has traveled the globe as part of a world tour, visiting Rimac Automobili’s Official Partners and internationally renowned events. As it continues to fly the Croatian flag, Rimac’s a Nevera showcar will be on static display at Expo 2020 in Dubai from 1 October 2021 – 31 March 2022. As part of the ‘Croatian Pavilion’, it will feature among the world’s latest creations and initiatives from the fields of Mobility, Sustainability and Opportunity.

Expo 2020 is renowned as a ‘World Expo’ – one of the largest gatherings that continues to attract millions of visitors from across the globe, seeing nations participate alongside leading businesses and organisations, with innovation at its heart. World Expos, over their 170-year history, have exhibited some of the most iconic and ground-breaking technological and engineering creations ever conceived, from the first telephone to the Eiffel Tower.

Expo 2020 is the very first time each participating country will host its own pavilion. Affirming their position as a leader in electric vehicle technology and EV hypercars, Rimac is proud to represent its home in front of a worldwide audience at the ‘Croatia Pavilion’, which is inspired by some of the country’s leading minds and innovators.

“It’s our honor to bring the Nevera to Expo 2020 and showcase it in front of a new audience. We feel privileged to be among great company that share our values of continuous innovation, and we’re looking forward to flying the Croatian flag high on the global stage.”

Mate Rimac, CEO Bugatti Rimac

The Rimac Nevera represents a paradigm shift in hypercar performance, technology, and design. This next-generation all-electric flagship has unlocked new dimensions of road car performance – once regarded as unachievable. Its 1,914hp is produced by four electric motors propelling it from 0-60mph in just 1.85 seconds, and onto 100mph in 4.3 seconds. The Nevera was recently named the world’s fastest accelerating production car, completing the quarter-mile in a world record 8.582 seconds.

The Nevera is proudly designed, developed and manufactured in-house at Rimac Automobili in Croatia, bearing a name that pays homage to its homeland and instinctive nature. A nevera is an unexpected Mediterranean summer storm off the coast of Croatia. Just like its namesake, the Rimac Nevera can transform from a comfortable, capable grand tourer into an ultra-sharp performance machine in an instant.

Nevera on display in the Croatian pavilion will introduce the brand to a new audience – those at home in the Middle East, and many travelers attending Expo. Rimac Automobili’s Official Partner in Dubai, EV Lab, will use this opportunity to host prospects and clients at a private event in the Pavilion and introduce the Nevera, ahead of the customer driving experience event in Dubai.

He formerly held the position of Director General at Bugatti Automobiles and guarantees the continuation of the manufactory with its worldwide outstanding quality. Larissa Fleischer becomes Chief Financial Officer. She was previously head of controlling at Porsche in the areas of digitalization and the development of new business models. Emilio Scervo is named Chief Technology Officer, having previously held the same position at Rimac Automobili.

Rimac Automobili and Bugatti Automobiles will each continue to operate as separate brands and manufacturers, retaining their individual production facilities in Zagreb and Molsheim respectively as well as the distribution channels.

Rimac Technology will continue to innovate, developing vehicle systems and technologies for many global OEMs. Such innovative technology can also be deployed in future Bugatti and Rimac models.

“I am honored to be leading this new fusion of automotive minds and begin what will no doubt be a successful, revolutionary and exciting new chapter for everyone involved. I am also extremely curious to oversee the profound impact Bugatti Rimac will have on the industry, and I look forward to developing innovative new hypercars and technologies.”

Mate Rimac, CEO of Bugatti Rimac

“It’s difficult to find a better match than Rimac and Bugatti. What each party brings to the table in terms of technical expertise, know-how and automotive history makes for an electrifying recipe. Rimac’s fast-paced operations and electrification skills are the perfect complement to Bugatti’s exceptional heritage and craftmanship. Stay tuned for some truly extraordinary projects in the future.”

“I am convinced that we have found the right mix of experience and know-how, innovative strength and team spirit for the management,” says Lutz Meschke, Deputy Chairman of the Executive Board and member of the board for Finance and IT at Porsche AG. “That’s why I’m very optimistic. And because the project is very close to my heart, I will continue to accompany it closely and passionately in the future.”

Oliver Blume, Chairman of the Board of Management at Porsche, names this merger as “the perfect solution” for everyone involved: “Together, we are creating a high-performance automotive company. We have succeeded in positioning the traditional Bugatti brand with its charisma for the future in a way that creates value. Bugatti embodies fascination and passion, and Rimac has great innovative strength and tech expertise.”

While on its way to its American debut at ‘The Quail: a Motorsports Gathering’ in California, the Rimac Nevera made a quick stop at the drag strip at Famoso Raceway. Back in June, it set the unofficial world record for the fastest accelerating production car but now, with Famoso Raceway officials and the experts from DragTimes, it was time to do it again.

Driven by Brooks Weiselblat from Dragtimes, with standard Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires – just like every Nevera – the car lined up at Famoso drag strip, with the air temperature at 37°C/98F and track temperature 65°C/149F.

With its Launch Control engaged – done by simply putting your left foot on the brake and flooring the accelerator – the Nevera prepared to unleash the full force of its 1,914hp powertrain through four separate electric motors. Having lifted a foot off the brake, the Nevera’s advanced control systems,  Including Rimac All-Wheel Torque Vectoring 2, constantly monitored which wheels had the most grip, portioning out the power to minimize wheelspin and maximize acceleration as it launched down the strip.

And in just a blink of an eye, the Nevera set the ¼-mile in a production car world record time of 8.582 seconds, at a top speed of 167.51mph. The run was the 11th of the day in quick succession, without any performance degradation between the runs, and can be seen in full on the Dragtimes Youtube channel.

Nevera’s previous unofficial world record quarter-mile time for a production car was set at 8.62 seconds earlier this year during testing in Croatia on an unprepared airstrip. Rimac has now beaten its own record and produced times that can be independently verified by third parties – with lots of performance still to be unlocked through over-the-air software updates.

Miroslav Zrnčević, test and development driver said:

This was our first test on a VHT (glued) surface, so we did not know what to expect. At first we were hitting less than expected ¼ mile times (8,7 and 8,8 seconds) than we did on a normal, non-prepped surface in Europe. The track temperature was 65°C and we had to do some adjustments. Our traction control learns the surface on each run and adjusts the torques on the wheels. After some adjustments and different tire warm-up strategies we managed to get better results. Brooks helped with his experience of staging the car and we managed to set the world record for the fastest accelerating production car and also beat our own 1/4 mile record. Still, we are confident that the Nevera has much more to give and that we can go even quicker with more experience and testing on this kind of surface. We will be back.

Mate Rimac, Founder and CEO said: “Our business started with a BMW 3 Series that I had converted to electric power, which went on to set a number of FIA acceleration records. But what we have produced today is on a completely different level. The Concept_One, back in 2011, was the fastest accelerating EV in the world, running the quarter-mile in 9.9 seconds. We’ve now broken that record with a standard production car by 1.4 seconds. With four independent motors, each individually controlled, we have so much flexibility over how the car accelerates and corners, giving us a huge advantage over any combustion-engined vehicles.

“But Nevera is about so much more than speed. With the largest battery pack ever fitted to a production car, it can travel 340 miles on a single charge. With in-house-developed Rimac All-Wheel-Torque Vectoring 2 it’s as agile as it is fast, and with electrically adjustable dampers and active aerodynamics it’s comfortable and quiet on a cruise, and a performance machine on a track.”

Designed, engineered, tested and manufactured in-house at Rimac Automobili’s global headquarters in Croatia, Nevera’s name proudly carries its Croatian heritage. A nevera is a mighty Croatian storm, known for its speed, ferocity and energy – a fitting name therefore for both the Nevera’s character and ability. Able to transform in a split second from a supple grand tourer to an all-out force of nature, Nevera is charged by lightning much like its namesake.

Following its unveiling In June, the Rimac Nevera has set off on a world tour of Rimac Automobili’s Official Partners and globally renowned events. Over the next 10 months, the Nevera will make over 20 stops all over the world from Europe, on to the Americas and into Asia.

In the beginning of July, the Nevera made its first stop in London, at H.R. Owen – Rimac Automobili’s chosen UK Offical Partner – for a series of private customer viewings and test drives. From London, Nevera went to Goodwood Festival of Speed, stunning sell-out crowds with runs up the hill across the weekend. Another stop this summer was in Barcelona with Spirits of Speed, where more potential customers got introduced to Rimac’s next-generation all-electric hypercar.

Now, the Nevera will make its debut in the United States, firstly by appearing at Rimac’s Official Partner O’Gara Coach in Beverly Hills, Los Angeles, for a series of customer activities and exclusive first-drive opportunities. The visit will see a new audience experience an entirely new spectrum of performance that only Nevera is capable of.

Soon after, Nevera will head to Pebble Beach for Monterey Car Week. Regarded by many as the world’s most prestigious automotive gathering, this series of top-end automotive events, including the Quail – a Motorsports Gathering, is the ideal location for an American debut the Nevera. From coast-to-coast, Rimac Automobili then heads over to New York, for previews and customer test drives with our Official Partner Manhattan Motorcars.

The schedule from September onwards includes more stops in Europe, across the Americas, Asia and the Middle East. At each stop, the Nevera will be available for test drives and exclusive customer previews, allowing potential buyers to experience an all-new paradigm in automotive performance.

“From the very beginning, we wanted to create a next-generation hypercar that could be sold all over the world, which is a huge undertaking with the multi-year homologation and crash testing process. Now we’re finally here, it’s only right that we celebrate that achievement by showcasing Nevera to our customers all over the world. We’re extremely grateful for all of our dealer partners globally, who have supported us in this journey, and we look forward to bringing the Nevera to all of our potential customers, and millions of Rimac Automobili fans.”

    Mate Rimac

There has never been a car like the Rimac Nevera, a next-generation all-electric hypercar opening up new dimensions in road car performance. With 1,914hp from four electric motors, Nevera can accelerate to 60mph in 1.85 seconds and to 100mph in just 4.3 seconds. It maintains its eye-widening acceleration throughout a full-throttle cycle, achieving 186mph (300 km/h) from rest in 9.3 seconds.

Proudly designed, developed and built in-house at Rimac Automobili in Croatia, the Nevera also bears a Croatian name, and one that truly reflects the prodigious performance it can unleash in the blink of an eye. A nevera is a powerful Croatian storm, charged by lightning and appearing with exceptional speed and potency. Just like the storm, the Rimac Nevera is just as adept at transforming its character in an instant – from assured and comfortable grand tourer to ultra-focused performance machine.

The President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen is visiting Zagreb on Thursday, July 8th, to present a positive assessment of Croatia’s recovery and resilience plan. During her visit to Zagreb, Ursula von der Leyen will also visit the headquarters of Rimac Automobili in Sveta Nedelja.

Rimac Automobili’s sister company, Project 3 Mobility, is one of the proposed projects from the National Recovery and Resilience Plan and as such, it’s selected among the projects to be presented to the Commission.

The project for the development of vehicles and infrastructure for new mobility has been recognized as one of the national strategic projects in the transportation sector, which represents a great potential for the society and economy of the Republic of Croatia in the coming period, as well as globally.

KIA Motors, a company that is a part of the Hyundai Motor Group, is already directly involved in the project, as an investor and shareholder of the company. The total amount of funds that will be invested in the first, before the commercial phase of the project is 450M EUR, coming from foreign investors, such as KIA Motors, and others with whom negotiations are already in an advanced stage. We expect that much larger investments will be needed after the initial pre-commercial phase, which will also be collected from international investors. According to the National Recovery and Resilience Plan, 200M EUR will be co-financed in the pre-commercial phase from EU Funds.

The project is actively in development for the past several years, its commercial phase, after intensive research and development is expected from the end of 2024. The first vehicle demonstrator was made last year, working on various elements of overall services (mobility platform, vehicle, infrastructure) and the goal is to present these elements to the public at the end of 2021 or the beginning of next year. We have entered into key partnerships with companies such as KIA (also an investor in the project), Microsoft, the autonomous software provider, and many others. Negotiations are ongoing. with about 20 cities in Europe and the Middle East, which would be the first cities where the robotaxi service would be enabled. Cooperation agreements have been signed with several cities, and our wish is for the first city in the world where the service is available to be Zagreb in 2024. The goal is for the production of vehicles and a large number of components to be in Croatia which would then export tens of thousands of units per year to locations where the Robotaxi service will be provided.

Mate Rimac, CEO of Rimac Automobiles and P3 Mobility says:

We were pleased to host the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, and the Prime Minister of the Republic of Croatia, Andrej Plenković at Rimac Automobili and to present the project of our sister company P3 Mobility. On this occasion, we presented a new mobility project that we have been working on for several years. We are glad that it was recognized as a strategic project proposed to the placement of funds of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan. The future of mobility will change completely. The commercial phase of our project, after intensive research and development, is expected from the end of 2024. The first vehicle demonstrator was made last year and we’re working on various elements of overall services (mobility platform, vehicle, infrastructure). We have entered into a key partnership with a company such as KIA (also an investor in the project), Microsoft, autonomous software provider and many others. We are currently in negotiations with about 20 cities in Europe and the Middle East, which would be the first cities to be provided with a robotics service. We have already signed cooperation agreements with several cities, but our wish is for Zagreb to be the first city in the world where the service will be provided in 2024. The goal is to produce the vehicles and a large number of components in Croatia and export tens of thousands of units per year to locations where the Robotaxi service will be provided.

Andrej Plenković, Prime Minister of the Republic of Croatia says:

This is an important and big day for Croatia. Since Ursula was in Cyprus this morning, she will be in Brussels again tonight, thinking about the concept of her stay here, we decided on three important points, each with its own symbolism. (…) The third point of this visit was deliberately chosen to be right here in Sveta Nedelja at Rimac. To show the Commission, but also the world and the public that Croatia, as Mate said in the presentation, has young, creative people, innovators building on the heritage of Nikola Tesla. People who fully understand the trends of the present that will be transformed into reality in the future. This project P3 will be a further project of the future. A project that fully coincides with the goals of the 4th Industrial Evolution, with a European green plan, 100% digital and 100% green.

It is on this track that we wanted to show that Croatia makes a very concrete contribution thanks to companies such as Rimac, but also other examples like Infobip in Vodnjan in Istria, trends that are global. And that is why the point of the national recovery and resilience plan is to use these funds for reform and development, to support those who are excellent, who are brave, who are creative and who will contribute to job creation in the future, and in this way there is no dilemma. Safer traffic and traffic that does not harm the environment. With great satisfaction and gratitude to the presidential commissions for today’s visit, for the decision which approved the funds in Croatia. Of course, I acknowledge Mati Rimac, his associates and more than 1,100 employees who are fully international for such a large project, a project of the future that will receive just under 200M EUR from the national recovery plan.

Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission says:

Being here being with you, Mate, and having seen the presentation I must say I am deeply impressed. I have seen the future present here in Croatia. I have seen the future of mobility here present in Croatia that is the answer to climate change. It is protecting the environment; it is the answer to the needs of digitalization because it works with smart connectivity. It works with artificial intelligence in a way that serves people and indeed I have seen a concept that gives back to people time, safety, affordability.  So that was fascinating, I am very glad that Europe is investing in this entrepreneurship. This capability of innovation I have seen here today in Croatia and gives me a lot of confidence that next-generation EU is the one who will make sure that the European Union is setting standards for the world for example environmentally-friendly mobility. Mate thank you very much, this was outstanding and I’ll go home with a lot of good impressions and I’m looking forward to implementing what we have started today.
